WHY WINTER IS THE BEST TIME TO BUY NEW FURNITURE

Tax Refunds
It's tax season which means many of us will be getting a nice little refund check this winter season! It's the best time to use that refund to invest in the sofa of your dreams now that you have a little extra in the bank.

Clearance Sales
At the end of the Winter, many furniture stores debut new Spring lines. In order to create room in the showroom for these new pieces, they must get rid of the old inventory! So take advantage of the numerous seasonal clearance sales going on at your favorite stores and don't forget to ask about floor models! They're often in great condition and significantly cheaper.

Other Winter Promotions
When it's cold outside many retailers experience a dip in traffic. To overcome this decrease in foot traffic, retailers tend to boost up their sales and promotions. If you can manage to suck it up and brave the Polar Vortex chills, you'll be rewarded with some sweet deals like our very own 10% off all orders of $5,000 or more when you book your in-home design consultation with one of our Concepters!

Plan Ahead
Warm weather is just around the corner. In the Spring/Summer, you'll be busy traveling and soaking up the sun! So if you know you are going to need new furniture, hit the stores now before Summer arrives, especially because most custom furniture takes at least 3 months to deliver!

Better Customer Service
Because the foot traffic is lower for most retailers in the Winter, this leaves salespeople more time to answer your questions and give you personalized attention! If you have questions about interior design, take advantage of our design consultants' extra time and come in for a complimentary one-on-one consultation!

Designer of the Month:

Our BoConcept Consultants work with many talented interior designers and decorators. Each month we will introduce you to these passionate professionals as they share with us their experiences and inspirations.

1. How long have you been working in your industry?
I started working at interior design and architecture firms in college while attending the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning for interior design. It's been more than 20 years since I started the program and entered this field. I have never looked back and am still learning and growing every day.

2. What inspires you?
I am endlessly inspired by the world around me, and I see beauty in just about everything. I always start a project with three key elements: an image, a feeling, and my client's personality. From there, my process flows organically forward, incorporating the original inspiration into the functional imperatives that the space presents. Being able to affect positive change in people's lives is a powerful and wonderful opportunity.

3. What do you like about BoConcept?
BoConcept has solutions that adhere to the clean and well-designed aesthetics my projects regularly call for. Their designs brilliantly multitask: they can either be showcase pieces in modern homes, or blend seamlessly with an eclectic range of styles.

4. What is your favorite BoConcept furniture and why?
Their closet systems are a favorite in the types of projects I design in Manhattan and Brooklyn, where clothing and storage needs have expanded dramatically from the kinds of capacities that many older properties can accommodate. BoConcept's options allow for lots of flexibility, and the wardrobes are really great-looking!

5. What’s your best design tip for New Yorkers?
We often don't have space for things we don't love, and our needs and tastes are always changing. I always recommend being rigorous when looking at your art, furniture, and accessories. If they don't consistently and clearly reflect your love, lifestyle, and passions, have the courage to rotate them out and find something that does!

5 EASY & AFFORDABLE VALENTINE’S DAY DÉCOR IDEAS

This Valentine’s Day weekend, surround your significant other with symbols that illustrate your love. Here are some 5 easy and affordable ways you can create that perfect romantic atmosphere at home:

1. The Scent of Love
Know her favorite scent? Gather all the vases you already have scattered across your home (empty wine bottles, jars, bowls and pitchers are also good alternatives!) and fill them up with her favorite flower! She’ll be swept off her feet the moment she comes home!

2. Set the Mood
Use a combination of candle holders and trays you already own and display candles in different heights and sizes to create an oh-so-sexy mood. Light them up before she walks through the door and watch her face glow!

3. Spell It Out
Head to a home decor or arts & crafts store and pick out some pre-made letter blocks to spell out romantic words like LOVE or HEART and display them over the mantelpiece or any other elevated structure in your living room or bedroom. Prefer DIY? Pick up some cardboard, cut out the letters and paint them over in red or pink or wrap them in colored yarn for a love sign on the entrance door to greet your girl.

4. Red Brings Sexy Back
Buy a pair of red accented pillows or a red cashmere throw to "sexy up" your sofa. This also makes for a good investment in the long run as red never goes out of style!

5. Show Her Your Heart, Literally
Buy some thick red or pink paper at your local arts & crafts store and cut out heart shapes and sprinkle them all over your home (or just on and around the bed) for a swoon-worthy romantic confetti effect!
